Choice Sheets

I think I see myself in Yearbook, because I'm not really into writing about people. I would rather take pictures and put them together as a yearbook. But then again I don't know what i want to do next year. I might not even take this class to be honest. I probably will try something else then maybe if all fails ill come back to this.

Abandoned Theme Parks

{Unable to get the photo}

The place I would want to go to is Takakanonuma Greenland, Japan. The reason that I picked that place was because I think its would be interesting to see an old theme park fall apart in the hills of Fukushima, located in Japan. It seem very interesting not only because its a foreign country but because I think it would be nice to see how the forest is trying to take back control of the land.
Other places I would enjoy to go to is old ghost town with old movie theaters, falling apart schools, and old antique stores. Another place would probably be Seattle. Not only because its a beautiful city but because supposedly there is a town right under the city. It would probably the only place i could take photos at, because I have family there and all I would need to do is go and take a camera with me. To me it would be very fascinating to go underground and take pictures of what use to be a city.

Portraits and self-portraits

 <><>
<>
<><>
I think a good photo should have an interesting subject. Something that isn't natural. To me a picture is like a movie, it shows you what you don't see on a regular baises. An image lets your mind wonder. It makes you think and actually give you different prespective. To me a good picture should have some sort of feeling, or an image that triggers the viewers imagination.
My next photos I take I want to be a portrait of someone. Someone who can bring an intresting story to the camera. I want my next 12 shots to be better than my last, but I also want them to have feeling. Also I want them to be clear, and  visable to everyone.

My first print

In this photo is a young male working on the computer.
The photo is sadly not in focus. And the reason for that is because I did a poorly job at focusing the camera when taking photos. The only thing you can see is the computer and the shape of a person, but even that is  very blurry. The whole picture is very hard to see. And I hope ill learn from this mistake so next time my photos will be more clear. The photo has very little contrast which is also my fault but its an ok photo. My image fills the frame and shows acedemics if you can tell whats in the photo. The image shows the rule of thirds, and was not intended. But the photo came out okay. There where no yellow rings, that i saw.
Yes, the negatives, contact sheet, test strip, and print are all in my folder.

Drug cartels in Mexico

This story was very interesting to read. I think its very jarring to know that this is happening not that far away from us. The fact that the people can rise against the government and take over also shows that the government isn't that strong enough to control their own people. Its also very sad that people aren't even safe in their own homes.   "The average ordinary resident of Juarez, their life is in danger every day." The only thing I don't understand is why they have to make a big thing about it, I mean I get it their selling drugs but they don't have to go crazy and start murdering everyone there.
My favorite image from the video is the photo of a close up of an older man crying because he's just found out his son is dead. I think the reason this photo is interesting to me is because it shows simplicity. And the photo shows how horrible things have gotten. There so bad that it makes a grown man cry.

Ethics in fashion photography

In the video the computer changed the girls appearance by  lifting her eye brows, lifting her neck,  plumping her lips, and enlarging her eyes. In my opinion I don't think it's acceptable for people to do that to people. It's not right because it's changing the natural order. It's basically lying to everybody who witnesses these images.
Another circumstance that is worse is the news paper because it's suppose to tell the truth at all times, no matter what it's about. I mean the title gives it away "News Paper." Its suppose to tell the news as it is. The only time I think it would be OK, or not really matter is when something is in the photo that  doesn't really belong . Such as someone throwing up gang signs or the bird. Other then that I don't think its ever right to change the whats in the photos.
To me the differences  between photojournalism and fashion photography is in fashion people have to look perfect. And there is nobody on earth that is perfect so people change the true image. But photojournalism is kinda the opposite. It doesn't change the true image, it leaves the pictures the way they are.

Photo manipulation and ethics pics

I think that this photo's manipulation is not that ethical. Others are way worse, and this photo doesn't matter to most people. Its just a woman's body which most people aren't concern with. It's just not as bad as others. Or at least that's in my opinion.
I think this photo's manipulation is most unethical. In my opinion its wrong because not only are they changing the photo but there changing nature just so it will look better for their magazine. Changing photos is never right but this is taking it to far because its not right to mess with something that's made for and reason.

Negative evaluation

Looking at my negatives I think most won't turn out good. Maybe one or two, but most aren't that well taking. The main reason that there where so badly taking is because I had too much lighting. There are some pictures that I believe will come out fine. Which are 11,3, and 8, those are the only one's I think and hope will come out amazing. Some of my pictures show rule of thirds, and simplicity. While others don't really have any rules.

Photo manipulation and ethics

When people manipulate the photos they'll do it for many reasons. But it's never right. Pictures are suppose to tell the truth with a story but by adding or taking away something is just ruinning the truth. In the story a photographer tok some pictures and didn't like what was in the photo so took an object out and added something else, just because they where females.
I think manipulating photos is wrong and unethical. To me doing that is just lying to everyone and yourself. If someone don't like the photo their taking then why don't they take it from another angle or not at all.

Post shoot reflection

While taking pictures I encounted a lot of diffuculties. A major problem was the lighting. I had to re-adjust the lens multiple times. Most of the time I just wanted to get the lighting right, even if the subject or picture was boring. I also has trouble focusing on people and there backrounds. Since this was my first time taking photos I hope I'll improve but this first time help me to know how to take photos and the position to take it from. A thing I did while taking a photo is get on top of a desk to get a different point of the subject instead of just being another boring front veiw.

Show and tell 2

This is very inspiring to me because it shows if you really love something you'll do whatever to be with it.
In this case, I can tell this man really loves golf. He loves it so much that he will go to extrodinary
lengths just to golf. Even if it means bringing his gas tank with him to golf.

American Soldier

The picture that I find very powerful is the image where Ian is hinding behind a bush. It is very scary and provoking. It shows what soliders do everyday, and how in a second an inoccent soldier can become a killer.
The slideshow that is powerful to me is Chapter 4 (First assignment). It shows Ian transition from being a young man to a overwelmed pill popping soldier. He becomes a completely new person in a little amount of time. These pictures show how much people change due to seeing things that most people would never catch a glimpse of.

Great black and white pictures 3

This picture to me has a story. It shows that this older
woman is very worried and wants everyone to see what she has and posses. I think                                this  picture is a astonishing image of someone who's very materialistic.

I love this picture because i can see and feel the mysterious and strange place. The first time I saw this picture I felt drawn by the dark ominous man. The picture has a very impeccable view of the man. The picture is an amazing black and white photo.

Gyula Halasz (Brassai) was born on September 9, 1899 in Budapest, Hungary. He was braught up in Hungary but when he was little he lived in Paris for a year while his father taught French. As a young man he studied painting and sculpture. But after collage he enlisted in the Austro-Hungarian army, and was in till tha war was over. In the 1920`s he became a jounalist. He did that for 4 years until his job moved him to Paris where he countinued being a journalist but was mesmorized by the beauty. So at night he would take photos of the beautiful city. He published a book called "Paris de nuit"(paris by night) in 1933. That book is what made him so famous. He moved to the U.S. and took many photos of famous people. Advanced nature
This picture is a perfect example of simplicty. I think the lighting is perfect because if it where any darker the fruit wouldn't be as noticeable. To me it's a very intresting photo.

Filling the frame

This picture fills in the frame. It takes almost all the room in the picture. And the parts where the girl is'nt standing the band people are taking up space. So this picture takes most of the frame.

Action and Emotion

This picture shows emotion. It expresses how the young boy feels about little girl. In the picture it seems that she's in pain and the young boy is being very compassionate towards her. So to me this picture shows a lot of emotion.

The Story

This picture's story is that music makes everything a little better. If this picture was only three men standing there it would seem boring, but since ther're playing insrtuments and in a band it makes the picture more intresting. So i think the picture's story is music makes everything a little better.
